Say what! A one-minute exercise that will give you great abs? Well, providing you follow the advice to make this part of your DAILY routine – sure, you’ll start to see some results in the ab department. A-lister Kate Hudson swears by Bicycle Abs – and maybe you will too!
The clue is in the name – the motion used is similar to riding bicycle. Only, there’s no bicycle!
Lie back on a mat or a carpet, and ensure your lower back is really pressed into the floor. With your hands behind your head you can support your neck as you lift it away from the ground.
The key now is to engage your abs, and then bend your left knee and bring it into your chest, as you twist and bring your right elbow toward your knee.
Essentially, your leg movements should mimic riding a bicycle, while the top half of you twists the opposing elbow towards your knees.
By alternating sides like this you are constantly working several ab muscles all in one go.
This hits the obliques, the central, upper and lower abs. Ensure throughout that your back is pressed into the floor so you don’t do yourself any harm.
If you make sure this exercise is done each day, then you’ll get some definition from your abs – or at the very least a toned stomach.
I've always said the simplest exercises are the best. And this exercise exemplifies it.
That's it - I'm doing this every day for lent!
