You probably thought, just like the Hussle team, that planking was a good thing to do - for however long you do it.

But turns out there’s actually an optimal time to hold a plank, and we’re here to share our new found wisdom with you!

Here’s the lowdown:

Holding 3 planks for up to a minute each is perfect, as you see the gains, but it stops you from drooping your back and putting excess force on your lower back.

Let’s be honest with ourselves though, 1 minute can be pretty challenging when it’s holding a plank. So if that’s the case and you’re finding it tricky, work up to that time.

It’s really key to have good form when holding a plank, as injury can occur if you start to sag your back, and you’ll risk doing some serious damage.

When you’ve become a planking aficionado, then you can begin increasing the intensity, but it’s more important to ensure your form is on point first and foremost.

Planking can seem like a bit of a chore, but when you’re good at it, you can hold a plank while you watch TV, or maybe you fancy going for the world record, which currently stands at 4 hours and 20 minutes, thanks to Canadian super-mum Dana Glowacka.

We don’t think we’ll be challenging that anytime soon!
