Eat Your Way To A Slimmer You

Eat Your Way To A Slimmer You

Are you on a weight loss journey or looking to lose a few pounds for a holiday? You are what you eat; this age-old saying really couldn’t be truer.

If you are following an exercise regime, or training as and when you can with the occasional gym day pass it's important to make healthy eating choices wherever you can.

Were you aware that you can actually eat certain foods and they will help you burn body fat and get in shape faster?

It’s true. With a few clever choices and changes to your daily eating habits you can maximise your bodies fat-burning potential. So what are these magical foods we speak of?

Really great grapefruit!

Grapefruit is a magical fruit! It's what’s known as a negative calorie fruit, this means that it requires more calories to burn it than it contains.

Grapefruit is full of vitamin C, pantothenic acid, copper, dietary fibre, potassium, biotin and vitamin B1. Instead of your lunchtime apple, why not swap it for a bowl of glorious grapefruit?

Guzzle down some green tea

Swapping your usual cups of tea every day for green tea can really help to speed up your metabolism and enhance your fat burning. Green tea increases your internal body temperature, via a process known as thermogenesis.

It is also brimming over with antioxidants helping to eliminate free radicals from your body (free radicals can lead to all manner of diseases and illnesses if they are not addressed.)

Spice things up!

Why not add some flavour to your meals in the form of some spices.

The hotter spices such as Cayenne pepper and chili help to increase your internal body temperature meaning all of your internal, metabolic processes have to run faster, thus more calories are burned.

Oh so clever coconut oil

Coconut oil contains a unique combination of fatty acids that have powerful effects on your metabolism.

Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids, and these are metabolized differently compared to the longer chain varieties. Coconut oil also has a thermogenic effect so eating it tends to increase energy expenditure.

Awesome asparagus

Asparagus is an excellent detox food. It is also one of nature’s natural diuretics and can help eliminate toxins from the body.  Munching on asparagus can also help boost your metabolic rate so why not swap your usual veg choice for some delicious asparagus?

Abs are made in the kitchen! Healthy eating and exercise go hand in hand; ideally you shouldn’t do one instead of the other – both elements need to work together in synergy.

Always make healthy choices where you can such as choosing sugar free options and opting for lower glycaemic carbohydrates. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water every day to stay hydrated.
