Here are the five best gyms in Edinburgh, each is different but all are first class!

Waldorf Astoria, The Caledonian EH1

The first of our gyms is a high-end offering with state of the art equipment.

This Edinburgh venue is hidden inside the Waldorf Astoria hotel. The hotel is a member of the Hilton group, and the 2 state-of-the-art gyms inside are ideal for those just passing through the city. It’s also the perfect high- end gym if you live in Edinburgh and usually workout somewhere else.

This health club comes with its own spa and swimming pool too, complete with lane swimming.

 You can use the free parking in the hotel car park when you attend this gym. You will find clean, modern Precor resistance and cardio machines, as well as a free weights section with a functional training area.

There’s a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi as well as an array of indulgent Guerlain spa treatments available at additional cost.

The Caledonian is in the heart of the city centre, just off the famous Princess St.

Opening hours are from Monday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Which means this is a great gym for those that need to work out on a Sunday evening or when other gyms are not open.

This gym has access to good personal trainers thanks to its team of friendly experts. There are Olympic, free weight and mat areas, as well as resistance machines, making this the perfect place to build arm and upper body muscle. There is access to cardio machines too.

You won’t find rows of treadmills at Spartan Gym; what you will find though is a selection of serious equipment installed to get serious results.

This Edinburgh gym is open from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM till 3:30 PM on a Saturday and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on a Sunday.

This health club has access to a gym, swimming pool, a sauna, and a steam room. They have the most comprehensive group classes out of all our gyms listed and access to personal trainers as well.

Gym facilities at the Juvenate Health Club in Edinburgh are especially good. They have cross trainers, treadmills, rowing machines; spin bikes, leg presses, chest presses, cable machines, shoulder presses, flying machines, Smith machines and more.

This airy, open-plan Edinburgh gym has plenty of resistance machines. It has cardio machines, and it has studio areas where you can work out in comfort, with space to spare.

The Club also has spin bikes and running machines which feature flat screen technology and integrated digital workouts. Added to that selection are punch/power bags, power plate and foam rollers.

Personal trainers are available at additional cost, and they have their own free weights section.

Opening hours are 6:00 AM to 8:300 PM Monday to Thursday and 07:00 until 15:00 on Saturdays. This gym is located out towards Leith, on West Bowling Green St, EH6.
