With everything ahead of us, there’s a good reason that January is a traditional time to decide to do things better. That means those good old fashioned New Year resolutions.
For most of us, a new year’s resolution will be to do with our physical health. Seems obvious – but why?
An enormous amount of food over Christmas is one very good reason! Over indulgence at parties can also produce a determined vow of ‘never again’. It can also be the result of aches and pains, or simply clothes that don’t fit where they used to do so.
More sadly, a Christmas table with an empty chair can make us all realise that we are not here for ever. The loss of a loved one can be a big wake up call to make the most of the time that we have. There is no better tribute.
It can be anything from ‘I will visit the gym once a week’ to ‘I will get training for that summer marathon’. It can even be a resolution to start taking exercise where none has been taken before. It’s never too late!
It doesn’t matter whether the target is big or small. If it is achievable, then it is a good target.
Any time is a good time to decide to improve - for instance, there is September and ‘back to school’ . Starting a fitness programme in January means you are more likely to have workout buddies. That’s an excellent motivator to get out of the door.
No more excuses – turn that fitness resolution into action!
Is fitness the most broken resolution as well??? Reckon you would have some stats on that one!?
I have to say I just love 'be awesome'. There's positive thinking for you!
