2 INGREDIENT LOW SUGAR ICE CREAM

When you’re craving a sweet treat but want to feel healthy, this all-natural, delicious, no added sugar ice cream is the answer. It tastes amazing and is entirely guilt free. Yes... it is that good.

The best bit? All you need is a blender and just two ingredients – bananas and cocoa powder. It couldn't be simpler to make.

There are plenty of reasons to cut down on sugar. The creaminess of frozen bananas makes it sumptuous, feeling and tasting exactly like the real thing. Use very ripe bananas for extra sweetness.

This ice cream is also vegan, gluten and dairy-free, making it healthy enough to eat for breakfast. 

Keep a container full of frozen chopped bananas in the freezer and you will be ready to make this whenever the cravings strike. It’s the perfect way to use up a glut of over-ripe bananas too.

INGREDIENTS

2 bananas, chopped and frozen

1 tablespoon cocoa powder (or raw cacao powder)

METHOD

  1. Chop peeled bananas and put them on a tray lined with parchment paper or a freezer bag. Freeze for 1 hour.
  2. Put the bananas into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  3. Add the cocoa powder and blend again. Note: There are countless variations for this ice cream so you can also add extra ingredients at this stage (e.g. honey, vanilla extract, peanut butter, pinch of salt)
  4. Eat immediately if you like a soft texture, or transfer into a container and freeze for a further hour for a firm chocolate ice cream.
