Fed up with working out to the perfect music only to find the track changes tempo and mood right at the wrong time? We have the solution!
Spotify have launched a new feature called ‘Spotify Running’ that matches your playlist to your workout, keeping you motivated right to the end.
Spotify Running detects the pace of your running and selects the music to perfectly match your rhythm, and your musical taste.
This great new feature hits the right notes for active people who love their music.
Here’s why we think you should give it a try:
1. Matches running tempo. Spotify will ask you to run a bit to detect your tempo and then select songs which match perfectly. The music encourages you to maintain your rhythm and speed – helping you go the extra mile and achieve faster running times. All tracks are merged together seamlessly so you won’t miss a beat. You can also increase the tempo manually to force yourself to make more effort if you really can’t up the pace by yourself.
2. “Recommended For You” playlist. Tracks are taken from your current playlists and listening history so you are sure to get music which you already know and love. New music from various genres such as pop, metal and country to hip hop, house and industrial are selected according to tastes in your own music collection.
3. New music. We know your running playlists are sacred. Music is a personal thing and you might have worked hard to get just the right track mix. But actually, being exposed to new music is liberating and exciting. (Have you ever heard any Dubstep or Electro?) There are even original tracks which are actually produced and composed by Spotify especially for running. 6 original running tracks are initially available. You never know, you might discover a new band you love!
4. Boost your exercise routine. Working out to music keeps you motivated and pumped. For some people, a good tune is the best way to get them past that tough point and surpass their own expectations. Others find music during exercise helps relax them into the present moment. But it can be hard to find the precise tune to produce these effects. That’s where Spotify Running comes into its own. Whether your pace is fast and furious or steady and calm, you will maintain your motivation throughout.
Spotify Running first rolls out to iPhone users. Later this year it will be integrated with the popular Nike+ workout app. It will also merge with the RunKeeper app in a few months.
It’s exciting stuff so go on and give it a try.
I cannot imagine doing a long workout without music. A few press ups, yes, but anything aerobic, and espcially running, needs music. Personally, I just listen to my own albums downloaded onto an ipod Nano, but then I am not particularly up to date with anything!!!
Craig, the ad says that it's coming soon to Android so just hang on there.
Shame I have an Android phone cos this sounds quite good. But you're right that music lists are sacred. I am very particular what I run to so this would have to be very good to compete.
